Trapped in the Desert
After
invading Syria and Iran, The United States military found itself overextended.
Civil unrest at home and incessant attacks by guerrilas
had seriously affected morale. The resistance to the United States Military
occupation of the Persion Gulf oil fields grew in the cities and towns.
A tactical decision was made by Centcom to retreat into the desert. With
supply lines cut , the army found itself short of food, water and ammunition.
Surrounded on all sides, U.S. troops surrendered on January 16th, 2006.
This event marked the beginning of America's transition from a fossil
fuel-dependant, industrial super power to a collection of medieval city
states.
