I thought of a cool name to replace the atrocious Taxi2000 name:
Quicksilver Corp. Cool no? Paint the cabs silver and then use the
slogan: "the silver bullet for your city's transit problem."
You could call the cabs "bullets". They kinda look like bullets
if
you think about it. I notice there isn't an established term for the
cabs, pods, cars, (whatever you want to call them). Everyone uses
their own term. My city Assemblyman calls them "ladybugs". heh
I like "bullets". As Ed Anderson said, it's a disruptive
technology. It's going to upset a lot of apple carts. Bullets are
pretty disruptive too.
Not peace but the sword.

Look you greens, PRT is going to save lives. Thousands of mothers
won't have to greive every time she passes her dead son's empty
bedroom. This is real. Those who stand against PRT are de facto
enabling wide-spread pre-mature death.

Go Kurt go!!! Rich is a loose canon that gives
me concern. Ed advised
me you have reason to believe he is possibly being paid as a promoter of
Skytran. I'm not surprised. I will keep this info between us. Ed is
coming out with a paper on his thoughts about Skytran and they will have
a tough time overcoming his objections to their design (or should I say
lack of design). I'll be at the anti and pro light rail ralley at 2:00
at capitol promoting PRT. As a CPRT rep, I'm officially taking a neutral
stance on light rail. Will have flyers to hand out

".... The one specific thing I recall from the meeting is that he told
us that he and his colleagues had calculated that if Boston ripped up all
of their rail systems and replaced them with PRT with the same line and
station locations it could handle the traffic carried by the rail system
at substantially lower annual cost. This is an excellent example of Shefs
forthright, honest, statement of facts that many dont want to hear
and are unpopular in political circles."

"....Based on my vast psychoanalytic experience I suspect
that he knows that in
the circles he moves if he were to suggest that PRT be considered he would
fear being laughed out of school. Moreover, urging consideration of PRT
could possibly in his eyes tend to discredit his welcome missionary zeal
to
tell the truth about LRT. In that I applaud him. His stance is
understandable giving the failure of the Raytheon/RTA program and the lack
of interest among the conventional transit community in looking at possible
new ideas with all the federal pork they have to feed on. But interestingly
enough among those who have requested to be on the Taxi 2000 information
list are several staff people from our Metropolitan Council and MNDOT, as
well as from similar organizations elsewhere. I suspect it may at this
point be important for these people to keep their interest away from their
superiors for fear of reprisals - this has happened before. But we are
wearing away at them. Truth can't be hidden forever.

Fascinating - And wonderful that the cartoonist understood
the difference
between PRT and mass transit! He couldn't think of anything negative to
say
about it so he made odd irrelevant statements, and the valid point that
it
could be used by terrorists. This shows real success on the marketing y'all
are doing up there. I predict that very cartoonist will soon be a convert.

Thanks for getting this debate going with GPM.
Ive been promoting and advocating PRT now for about ten years now
and Ive heard all the arguments;proand con. What has been said here
isnt a statement of whether PRT is Green or not. The truth is that
LRT has been here much longer and theyre usingfederalfunds to undercut
any positive spin on PRT Among their tactics is to heavily lobby environmental
groups about LRT and, in the process, try to destroyany credibility in a
new and competing industry. Consequently, The Sierra Club and other Green
organizations go the way of donations and pressure.
PRT is GREEN! An irony is that the Greens advocate sustainability and, at
least fiscally, so do the Republicans. Love and politics make strange bedfellows.

To All,
Look up this web site! Aside from the contents, isn't it slick? Do I really
believe that Ken Avidor and Mark Knapp are just amateurs? Well, no! But then
who are they and how did they come up with this slick site?
Besides myself and Bob McLean, nobody remembers when a PAID LRT type, Dick
Saunders, came in and tried to take CPRT over. Could this be happening with
this web site? Does anybody know how to find out who these guys are, who possibly
paid them, and where the web site comes from?

Ken Avidor is also the person behind the protests
against the I-35W Access to Lake Street project in
South Minneapolis. He started a protest orginzation
known as STRIDE:
They apparently have a lot of time and a lot of anger.
They are more anti-auto than pro-anything, and PRT is
an auto like solution in their minds. Spending time
to debate or convince them would be fruitless.

"November 14, 1999When I was on KTCA's "Almanac" a few months
ago with Elwyn Tinklenberg, the transportation commissioner held forth on
the promise of light-rail transit (LRT). The cohost anticipated my response.
'Mr. Morris, you're against rail and for buses, right?' She was surprised and confused when I declared my enthusiasm for rail, but for a really light rail system using technology of the 1990s, not the 1890s."

5) Making it Up as They Go:
In an e-mail message forwarded to the Minnesota State Green Party List, February 2nd 2004 , PRT guru Ed Anderson solves the problem of locating the PRT pylons where the trees are...greens like trees, y'know...
"... Another problem some people mention is that it would be necessary to cut down all of the trees to install a PRT system. So long ago we designed a parabolic arch support that would place the guideway over the middle of the street. In time one could plant vines to grow up the arches and actually create quite a beautiful view.
Whoa, Ed! Ivy covered Parabolic Arches! That's not what I see in all those pictures on all those PRT web sites! Hey here's another whopper from Mr. Ed on the PRT Yahoo chat site:
-----Original Message-----

Subject: [prt-talk] PRT & skybridges
In preparation for a meeting with a VP of the Alaska RR I was making
a PRT map for downtown. There are sky-bridges downtown. How does PRT
deal with this?
Ed Anderson: Go over them.
Ed, did you just say "Go over" the skyways? Does that mean that your pods will be 3 nose-bleedin' stories up in the air? How big will the pylons have to be to support that? How come your pictures don't show 3 story high PRT infrastructure?
This is why you can't win an argument with these guys. It's like arguing with Creationists (a simaler faith-based "scientific" cult )They just make it all up as they go!
You can indulge in a smorgasbord of such silliness at the cult's e-mail forum without having to join it. Now you have to join to read it...too bad:
